College Volunteer Application

The MD Anderson College Program is designed to provide a rewarding volunteer experience and instill a lifetime spirit of commitment to volunteerism.

Participants will have the opportunity to provide customer service and support to patients and their families in a hospital setting, gain exposure to a variety of healthcare careers, learn effective communication, and improve leadership skills. We do not offer opportunities for clinical exposure or shadowing medical professionals.

Programs

Day Program:  Opportunities are available only during the daytime, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Shifts are 3 to 4 hours with flexible shift sign up., ex: 8 a.m.-12 p.m., 12-4 p.m., 2-6 p.m.

Evening and Weekend Programs:  Closed at this time

Program Requirements

  • Individuals 18 years and older enrolled in college
  • To provide consistent support to our patients, caregivers and staff, we require a minimum commitment of 6 months and 8 volunteer hours per month.
  • Complete preview orientation, application, forms and placement interview
  • Health Vaccinations: Flu (annually), Tuberculosis (TB) skin or blood test within the last 12 months, Chicken Pox history
  • Criminal background check clearance
  • Agree to wear the volunteer uniform: MD Anderson volunteer badge, blue jacket and mask (where applicable in required areas) that will be provided to you each shift.
