College Volunteer Application

The MD Anderson College Program is designed to provide a rewarding volunteer experience and instill a lifetime spirit of commitment to volunteerism.
Participants will have the opportunity to provide customer service and support to patients and their families in a hospital setting, gain exposure to a variety of healthcare careers, learn effective communication, and improve leadership skills. We do not offer opportunities for clinical exposure or shadowing medical professionals.

Programs

Day Program: Volunteer opportunities are only available in the daytime program. Daytime program shifts consist of a once a week 3 to 4 - hour flexible shift time. Typical day shifts are 8 am - 12 pm, 9 am - 1 pm, 12 pm - 4 pm and 1 pm - 6 pm.

Complete Virtual Orientation and Virtual Placement Interview
Online training and forms
Criminal background check clearance
Agree to wear the volunteer uniform: blue jacket and MD Anderson-issued mask (provided to you each shift)
Consistent attendance: 40 shifts; flexible, online shift sign up

MD Anderson team members, students, trainees and volunteers must submit documentation showing they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved exemption through the MD Anderson exemption process.

Being fully vaccinated means you have completed the primary vaccination series for COVID-19. A primary vaccination series is defined as follows:

The administration of a single-dose vaccine (such as the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 Vaccine),
Or, the administration of all required primary doses of a multi-dose vaccine (such as Dose 1 and Dose 2 of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine (interchangeable with the licensed Comirnaty Vaccine) or the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine).

Boosters are not a part of the CMS vaccine requirement.
